CTS Sensor Fit™ is CTS’s latest CNC ceramic shaping technology to give precise taper shape and fit precision to each join, giving your blank the perfect taper lock between sections for precise feel and sensitivity.
As Sensor Fit removes the paint layer from within the join area, this increases the amount of carbon or glass fiber material that we can fit into the join area, thereby increasing joint strength.
Traditional methods of join fitting are done by hand or machine sanding. This often leads to a roughly matched pairing of male to female tapers. High spots are common, leading to rattles and premature join movement as they wear.
Sensor Fit™ produces a fit with a far greater surface contact area. Wearing of the join and consequential movement will be negligible.
Sensor Fit™ produces a lower profile step between sections, reducing line to blank contact with a shorter join between each section of your blank. This improves the flex through the join area to create a smoother transition between sections.
Fine Tuning and Care
The Sensor Fit™ system is an extremely precise taper lock system and it is important that you joins are firm and periodically checked during use to avoid section movement and damage.
Our technicians aim for a fit gap of between 0.5 to 1mm. However, this can vary as each person will fit the parts together with differing levels of force.
We suggest using a very thin coat of bees wax on the male end of the join to increase the join adhesion.
You can close up the gap, or open up the gap to your preference with the two methods below.
Open up the gap:
Gently rub a very small amount of bees wax on the male join. This only needs to be very small amount so as to not attract grit.
Close up the gap
Using some P400-P600 grit paper, twist the male section of the join to remove a small amount of material.
When doing this, try and maintain an even pressure along the fit length.
Periodically check the gap until your desired length is obtained.
